It has been 6 months since you started your blog and the statistics are not moving. Well actually they are but in a very uninspiring trend. To avoid this kind of disappointment and other headaches, get to know first the various things and tools that can help boost traffic on your blog. Prepare yourself to assume the role of a Webmaster since you will be doing a lot of work.
Below are ten easy-to-follow tips on how to improve your traffic, not necessarily in order. Its usefulness will still depend on your commitment and dedication.
* Be the best
If you have a specific niche then I suggest be an expert on it. Some bloggers look for common interests where they can acquire useful information and tips. You can offer books reviews, do’s and don’ts in blogging, online money making, vacation havens and any other topics you have good experiences and knowledge that you want to share.
* Be connected
Include RSS, Bookmark, and tag contents such as Technorati, del.icio.us, Flickr, Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon, etc.
* Be thoughtful
If somebody took the time and effort to write you and asks a question, spend time to answer them even if not instantly, especially if it was a suggestion or a good idea for your blog. This would mean a lot to your reader and builds a connection between you and your readers.
* Be imaginative
Make the most out of your space by incorporating comments, graphs, polls, meters and other interactive tools. This creates a lively environment and active participation from your members.
* Be interesting
Do not bore your readers. Be the kind of person that would exude excitement, information, and fun with his personality and posts. Know your visitors and what they enjoy getting to keep them coming back.
* Be alert
Proofread, proofread, and proofread. If you can have somebody to do it for you better. A perfect topic can wind up a disaster if simple typo errors and grammars are not checked.
* Be generous
It is sometimes appropriate and always fun to give out freebies such as eBooks, software, and other downloadable to your ever loyal readers.
* Be active
This is very effective during the early stage of your blog when you don’t have many regular readers yet. The photosphere is a huge network and can serve as a useful avenue to promote you site. Participate in other people’s blogs, forums, and other online networking.
* Be smart
Use simple and effective software in monitoring and maintaining your blog. Tools such as Blogger, WordPress.com, TypePad, and LiveJournal can automate some of your chores. It can also provide key indicators and stats on how well your site is doing and what you can do to turn the table.
* Be organized
Archive and categorize your posts. Some readers may not exactly remember the title of the article but the month or category type could be easier for them to note.

Hi why do bloggers copy a small piece of my blogs on thier own blog then link back to me. The copied text appears on my comments as duplcate text? Is this good or bad should I allow it to carry on? This prcatice seems auatomted am I right? Your expertise would be appreciated

They wana have content on their automated blogs so they copy content from people like you and me, its pretty much automated.
The trick they do is copy some of your content and linkback to you as the original source, your blog will automaticly link back to them in the comments. Now they have some good content and a link back from the original source “you”.
I don’t mind if other blogs copy some of the article content and then link back to the site here, but I don’t allow my blog to post their links on my articles comments, otherwise I would end up spammed by all the automated blogs out there.
So you need to set your blog not to link back to these sites in comments, and dont worry about them coping some of the content, google is smart and will know whois the original source. Its those who copy the whole article, you should worry about. Whether they linkback to you or not.

I have just started a new blog and hope to gain lots of traffic in the future. I am currently link building and using adwods etc to get traffic. I am also getting a lot of my daily posts featured for a tag on stumble upon, which is a large source of traffic for me. Hopefully my site kicks off, wish me luck!

The information you wrote is great! Thanks for posting it.

You could also add in the networking side. I only started out on the marketing track a couple of months ago but I’ve found that both online and offline contacts are a massive boost. I’ve even managed to find a master mind group and it’s shown me that I do have a lot of original ideas that I can throw into the ring.

There must be some innovation in the way the text and the graphics are presented. If the old conventional way is continued then there would be nothing new for the visitors. To attract visitors and make them come back to the blog or site the first thing to be looked upon is the design of the website and then the information that is provided. The navigation of the site should be easy.

I think you hit the head on the nail with your post. Many people are still stuck on spending lots of time building their sites without any real consideration for how people will know it exists. The old adage “build it and they will come” doesn’t always ring true. You need to get creative when it comes to getting quality web traffic to your site. I think one of your most important points is to be active. This will help your SERPS and get people to come to your site.

I think blogcatalog is good way to increase traffic. I got 10 to 15 traffic daily. The another way to get traffic is submitted comment in discussions box or comment box. http://www.makebdmoney.blogspot.com

“Be imaginative” i would have to agree 100% on this one How can you get traffic to your blog if your content is practically the same as everybody elses.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
I work in I.T full time and also own an IT Blog. I share the knowldege I gain by posting on my blog.
Upon adding tutorials and fixes to my blog i found the traffic increased within days.
Unique content and updating my blog often helped incrase traffic.
September 9th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
I agree that traffic is critical to a blog’s success. Because without traffic, a website or blog has little value. You want lots of eyeballs and get them to return as well.

Traffic = Success
You must promote your site day in and day out.
Dont give in just after a month as it takes a lot of time to get your site off the ground.
Try directory submissions,submit some articles,post links back to your site on great sites like this blog.
Good luck with you blogs
Great blog admin

What about ‘ranking’ sites like Alexa? I think an important step is to have your site earn a high position at those places as quickly as possible.
I believe doing that follows the same steps you outlined, though.

I personally believe that the blogs tags would be playing the key roles over the net since by enabling the option, more daily clicks and page views could be expected and also the surfers and blogs viewers would feel more relaxed following the useful topics based on the tags specified.
